What parts of the brain are affected by Cocaine?
This is the overall limbic system part that is affected by Cocaine.
Well, cocaine seriously affect the rewarding system which is specifically called the "limbic system". The limbic system produces dophamine, which is a hormone that causes extreme pleasure. When cocaine enters the area of the brain where the dopamine is located, it blocks the reuptake pumps that remove the dopamine from the synapse of the nerve cell. As a result, more dopamine gathers at the synapse and gives feelings of intense pleasure.
